Best Driving Apps for the Frequent Driver

Many of us spend a good amount of time on the road and despite how much you may enjoy driving, always being on the road can wear on us all. Luckily, there is a barrage of fun driving related applications out there to make the process more enjoyable. Keep in mind that you should never use these apps while you are actually driving on the road. Instead, have the apps set up and ready beforehand or pull over to access them.

Also keep in mind, if you are in a “Hands Free State” touching your phone to change apps or for any other reason may result in your receiving a ticket, even though you are not using the “phone” portion of your phone. This is especially important if your phone doubles as your GPS device, your “radio”, or if you are trying to see the information shown on apps like GASBUDDY or WAZE (see below).

GasBuddy

If you are frequently driving, then you are constantly on the lookout for a gas station for a fill-up. After a while, gas can get expensive, so you need a buddy by your side. GasBuddy takes your GPS signal and tells you about all of the nearby gas stations, pinpointing those with the lowest gas prices.

Pocket Casts

This is an app that houses an extensive library of available podcasts. If you do a lot of commuting, then you might want some entertainment to keep you from going stir crazy. With Pocket Casts, you can access podcasts of almost any genre from science to science fiction.

Waze

What if there was a way to predict your driving future? To know what was ahead of you before you even got there? The Waze app is the next best thing. It’s a user-generated app with over 50 million users who post essential updates such as traffic conditions, shortcuts to avoid bad streets, comprehensive voice-assisted navigation and more.

GoPoint App

When you drive a lot, it’s easy to stay focused on where you are going and forget that your car can only do so much without the proper maintenance. With the GoPoint App, you can constantly be reminded of several of your vehicle’s features including engine RPM, fuel economy, engine coolant temperature and more.

iOnRoad

Once you have your phone set up on its approved cell phone call cradle, use iOnRoad to help you keep an eye out for any impending dangerous situations. The app uses your phone’s camera to identify collision warnings, tailgating dangers and even tells you when you are speeding.
