As part of prepping the vehicles, each vehicle was weighed. A spreadsheet comparing the actual weighed vehicle weights to the weights for the vehicles in Expert AutoStats can be downloaded here

At the conference a total of Eleven (11) Crash Tests of various types were run -

  • There were Four (4) Under Ride Tests (Under Ride and Rotation Calculations)
  • There were three (3) Lane Change Side Swipe tests between a 6x4 Tractor and a SUV (Marking Evaluation)
  • There ws One (1) Rear End Test between a Tractor-Trailer and an SUV (Damage and Head Movement Evaluation)
  • There was One (1) Rear End test between a Tractor Trailer impacting a Second Tractor Trailer (Damage and Head Movement Evaluation)
  • There was One (1) Test with a car impacting Trailer Duals (Rotation & Crush Calculations)
  • There was One (1) Head On Test between a Chevrolet Express Shuttle Bus and a 6x4 Tractor (Crush Calculation)

 

Compilation Video - CT 1-1
This test was conducted on June 7, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2011 Buick Enclave Under Riding a VAN Trailer at ~51 mph

Enclave Delta-v was ~31-32 mph

The Trailer Delta-v was 3-4 mph due to the impact. The Trailer duals had movement of ~ 56 inches


Crash Test 1-1 Enclave Underride VAN Trailer

Compilation Video - CT 1-2 thru 1-4
This test was conducted on June 7, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2009 Volvo VNL 6x4 with a VAN trailer attached Side Swiping a 2014 Ford Escape. These were Designed to show what markings to expect on the vehicle when it comes in contact with the Tractors hubs/tires when a lane change is attempted and the Tractor Driver and/or vehicle driver are not paying attention.

The speed of both vehicles was ~ 20-22 mph


Crash Test 1-2 thru 1-4 Tractor Trailer Side Swipe Escape

Compilation Video - CT 1-5
This test was conducted on June 7, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2009 Volvo VNL with a VAN Trailer attached Rear Ending a 2014 Ford Escape at ~8 mph


The Escape Instrumented Delta-v was ~6-9 mph


The Tractor Trailer Calculated Delta-v was 0.7-1.0 mph due to the impact.


Crash Test 1-5 Tractor Trailer Rear End Escape

Compilation Video - CT 1-6
This test was conducted on June 7, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2013 Nissan Altima impacting the Tandem Rear axles of a Utility VAN Trailerat ~29 mph


The Altima Instrumented Delta-v was ~27 mph


The Trailer Calculated Delta-v was ~3-4 mph due to the impact. The Trailer duals had movement of ~ 18-20 inches


Crash Test 1-6 Altima into VAN Trailer Tandem's

This test was conducted on June 8, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2014 Ford Escape Under Riding a VAN Trailer at ~24-25 mph


The Escape Instrumented Delta-v was ~22-24 mph


The Trailer Instrumented Delta-v was ~2 mph due to the impact. The Trailer duals had movement of ~2-3 inches


Crash Test 2-1 Escape Underride VAN Trailer

Compilation Video - CT B (2-2)
This test was conducted on June 8, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia with a Flatbed Trailer impacting the rear of a 2009 VNL Tractor with a VAN Trailer at ~15 mph


Cascadia's Calculated Delta-v was ~11-12.5 mph


The VAN Trailer Instrumented Delta-v was 9-10 mph due t the impact.


Crash Test 2-2 Tractor Trailer Rear End VAN Trailer

Compilation Video - CT C (2-3)
This test was conducted on June 8, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2012 Chevrolet Express Bus impacting a 2009 Volvo VNL Tractor Head On at ~34 mph


Chevrolet Instrumented Delta-v was ~29-31 mph


The Tractor Instrumented Delta-v was 6-7 mph due to the impact. The Trailer duals had rear ward movement of ~ 51-54 inches


Crash Test 2-3 Chevrolet Bus Head On into Tractor

Compilation Video - CT D (2-4)
This test was conducted on June 8, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2011 Buick Lucerne Under Riding a VAN Trailer at ~20-21 mph


Lucerne Instrumented Delta-v was ~20-21 mph


The Trailer Calculated Delta-v was ~3-4 mph due to the impact. The Trailer duals had movement of ~ 2-4 inches


Crash Test 2-4 Lucerne Underride VAN Trailer

Compilation Video - CT E (2-5)
This test was conducted on June 8, 2026 in Fargo, ND and had a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Under Riding a VAN Trailer at ~18-19 mph


Captiva Instrumented Delta-v was ~17-18 mph


The Trailer Calculated Delta-v was ~2-3 mph due t the impact. The Trailer duals had movement of ~4-5 inches
