On June 7, 2026 in Fargo, ND a series of Crash Tests were conducted as part of the MATAI (Midwest Association of Technical Accident Investigators) 2026 Conference.
This test is similar to a Tractor Trailer crossing an intersection and having to stop in front of oncoming traffic whcih tries to steer out of the way … but fails. This test had a 2013 Nissan Altima impacting the Tandem Rear axles of a Utility VAN Trailer at ~29 mph
The Nissan Altima Instrumented Delta-v was ~27 mph
The Trailer Calculated Delta-v was ~3-4 mph due to the impact. The Trailer duals had movement of ~ 18-20 inches
