On June 8, 2026 in Fargo, ND a series of Crash Tests were conducted as part of the MATAI (Midwest Association of Technical Accident Investigators) 2026 Conference.
This test is similar to two Tractor Trailer combinations in Stop-and-Go freeway traffic where the following tractor driver had a momentary distraction from the traffic ahead. This test had a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia with a Flatbed Trailer impacting the rear of a 2009 VNL Tractor with a VAN Trailer at ~15 mph
The Freightliner Cascadia’s Calculated Delta-v was ~11-12.5 mph
The VAN Trailer Instrumented Delta-v was 9-10 mph due to the impact.
