On June 7, 2026 in Fargo, ND a series of Crash Tests were conducted as part of the MATAI (Midwest Association of Technical Accident Investigators) 2026 Conference.
This test had a 2009 Volvo VNL with a VAN Trailer attached Rear Ending a 2014 Ford Escape at ~8 mph. Typical of Stop-and-Go traffic on a freeway, or an inattentive truck driver approaching a Traffic Signal or Stop Sign with a stopped ehicle ahead of it.
The Ford Escape Instrumented Delta-v was ~6-9 mph
The Tractor Trailer Calculated Delta-v was 0.7-1.0 mph due to the impact.
